So, we’ve been married two years today! We did our celebrating last night, however. The Youth are having a Temple trip this evening, so Blair will be going to that. We had a great evening last night. We went to Sapporo Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar. No, we didn’t get sushi. One day, maybe we’ll be adventurous and try it once and for all, but that day wasn’t yesterday… We really love Hibachi/Teppanyaki Japanese cooking. That’s where they cook the meal in front of you and do the tricks and stuff. Anyway, one of my family’s few Christmas traditions is that we go out to Hibachi on Christmas Eve. It’s one of my favorite things about Christmas, but we decided that since we couldn’t think of anything creative and special to do for our anniversary, we thought we’d try a new Hibachi place (even though it isn’t Christmas). Last year we did Lobster, since neither of us had ever tried it. It was just okay, but anyway…(gotta nip the rambling in the butt!)
Two Christmas’ ago, we had gone to a place over by the Walmart at Westport and the 265 and were very let-down. Last Christmas, we went with my family to a place we had been several times before, but this time it was a bit of a let-down as well. (The cook just wasn’t all that impressive…which is the whole fun of it, right?) So we were really wanting to find a great Hibachi place. I did some internet searching and the place we went to got the highest ratings for sushi. Some people mentioned the Hibachi, but most the hype was over the sushi, so I crossed my fingers and hoped its excellence in the sushi department would translate to their Hibachi stuff.
The verdict? Sapporo was definitely the best Hibachi that Blair or I had ever had. Seriously. Hands down, everything about it was better than anywhere else. The soup was better. The salad was better. We also got an appetizer (I tried to make a point of remembering the name of it, but I’m drawing a blank…) and that was fantastic. The fried rice was perfect and the steak and shrimp were both delectable. All around, I highly recommend Sapporo if you like Japanese, and even if you don’t…you’ll probably still like it. If you’ve never done the whole Hibachi, cook-in-front-of-you thing, then you’ll have to try it some time. It’s a little on the pricey side, so save it for a special occasion. (dinners were 19.95 each and the appetizer was 4.95. So definitely less than Lobster, but more than the usual dinner out to eat…at least for us.)
After that we went home and watched a movie and we each ate one of those mini ice cream things that you can get a Kroger. I think they’re new…but they are one of our favorite things now. They’re $1 each, and they’re the perfect serving size (keeping us from over-eating…) Mmm!
Anyway, that was probably much too long and boring, but there ya have it! Even though we have probably officially left the Newlywed status, we hope that we can always grow more in love every day and be as giddily in love as we ever were. At least once in a while…
