Single Mother

That was me for a few days these weekend. The kids and I went to Fairfax, VA to visit my brother and to witness his first baby's blessing. My family came along, so I wasn't REALLY single, but you know how it goes. The trip really went as smoothly as it could have, and yet I find myself numb with exhaustion. It has been so nice to be home and to let my kids rediscover their turf and toys and play like everything is new again. While we were there, I knew it would be too much for me to try to run around sight seeing or trying to do too many things, so we just focused on meal times and chilled out whenever possible in the hotel. It really was nice to just hang out. The kids had puff balls and balloons as pretty much their only toys, and they did surprisingly well. We also paid a couple of visits to the wonderful heated pool at the hotel. That was a HUGE hit. Noah was so chill, and would let us just throw him around and didn't cling at all! (he and Cami are SOOOO different) It helped that the water was even a little warmer than he's used to for a bath. It was divine, I tell you. Cami was her usual timid self, but I just let her do her thing. They had a bunch of toys for her to throw in and we'd fetch them for her. She did spend some time in Noah's floaty chair, but I think she prefered just being on the sidelines. Did I mention that they had a floating basketball hoop and balls for Noah to play with?! Seriously his dream vacation when pool time came around.

It was fun to be with my whole family for a few days. Stephen spent most of the time entertaining the younger, more energetic siblings (Michael and Emmalie) and Dad, and Mom chilled out with us most of the time. I was not my usual self. Usually I'd be with all the energizer bunnies, but when you have two toddlers in tow and are pregnant, things change a bit. The kids did amazing on the drives there and back (I don't know what I'd do without a dvd player in the van) and I really couldn't have asked for things to go better.

One day I'll unpack. Probably not today. Hopefully sometime this week....:)
