SPLURGE!!!

So...we got quite a large Tax Refund mostly because Cami was born and suddenly the government decided they would like to hand us a ton of money just for her. I guess they like her. I can't blame them.

While most of the money is going into the pot that will be used for post-graduation expenses (ie: moving, car, in case we don't have a job right away, etc., etc.) we decided it would be a shame to not get to spend a little of it.

We each got an equal amount of spending money, and this is what we bought:

For me:

A 4th generation Ipod Nano (blue) with super cute case (pink):

A 12", red, non-stick, Calphalon frying pan (it's with all of Blair's stuff)

And I have some left-over cash that will probably be spent on a new purse. Nothing fancy...just something a bit bigger so that I can keep a few Cami items in it for emergencies.

For Blair:

A 10-pc. tri-ply, stainless steel Food Network brand cookware set. All pieces are even induction ready...not that we'll ever EVER have an Induction cook-top, but hey...you never know. Blair had quite the list of criteria, and since we're huge Food Network fans, we felt comfortable buying that brand. He needed something that could go in the oven at high temperatures (these can go in up to 500 degrees) and he needed something with riveted handles. I wanted something schnazzy looking. That was my only criteria. The lids on these things are just beautiful, I must say.

Now, I realize that this may seem a little backward to you. Should I be embarrassed that I wasn't the one that spent my money on something practical and something...well...that the woman tends to care more about than the man? Should I feel bad that I was totally selfish in my purchase? I don't know...I'm still deciding. But if you read that post about the 25 things about me, you'll know that things are a little backward in our house. Blair LOVES to cook and try new things in the kitchen. He has even said to me that he'd love to take some cooking classes one day. I, on the other hand, don't mind cooking, but I don't love it either. I'd like to be better, and maybe having some seriously awesome cookware in the kitchen will make me more interested, but this was definitely Blair's purchase.

Heck no, it's not bad, are you kidding!? You should totally nurture that "cooking thing" in Blair, encourage it, praise him constantly for it! Dang, if only I could be so lucky. And if you are looking for a good purse Marshalls has great name brands for less (or Ross). There is nothing like a good purse. Have fun, and how exciting! Kristi

Okay, I just realized I need to sign in first, then I don't have to post as Anonymous, but I am following this blog now called preparednessmatter.blogspot.com, I like it a lot. Have you heard of it. I think I'll get all my challenge leads from them. Ha ha. Good luck with your new pots and pans, they are awesome!

I am so jealous of that cook set! I'm not even a very good cook. I haven't had much reason or time, but I read cook books all the time and love Food Network.

AND! That nano is BEAUTIFUL! I love that color!
