So, funny story.
Cami has been reminding me every day for about 3 months that she wants
"'Punzel dress, and 'Punzel dolly uppa my birthday!"
So the other day, I actually found myself ALONE at walmart, so I decided to take the opportunity to buy these gifts and just hide them until then. Heaven forbid the week before her birthday they get sold out for some reason.
I decided it would be even more fun if I surprised her with Max the horse to go with the other two things...just so she got something unexpected. So I bought him, too. (every girl needs a barbie horse, right?)
So fast forward to last night when I was searching my house top to bottom for the paint roller extender handle thingy so I could paint the super high walls in my bedroom, and I happened to be in the random closet that I had chosen to hide these birthday gifts in, and didn't even think about the fact that Cami was following me around as I searched.
"THERE'S A 'PUNZEL DOLLY UP THERE!!!"
Gasp.
Turns out the only one she actually SAW was Max, the horse. So I said "No it's not!" She argued and argued that it was in fact a 'punzel dolly, so I showed her. "See...It's Max the horse".
Her face fell. I thought she was going to break down in tears. I jokingly said, "Isn't that what you wanted for your birthday??" She didn't like that joke...and got pretty upset. She went on and on about how she had wanted the Rapunzel, not Max. I finally convinced her that Max was a great present, so I let her open it, and she started to act happy to have a pretty horse with its brush and clips and stuff, so she started playing with it with Blair while I continued hunting for my paint roller thingamajig.
So, about 30 minutes go by, and as far as Blair told me, she was happily playing with Max when ALL OF A SUDDEN she breaks down to pieces crying and just says "I didn't WANT Max, I wanted PUNZEL! Mommy got it wrong! Mommy got it wrong!"
Poor girl. She TRIED to be happy about the 'mix up'. She just couldn't deal with the dissapointment. Daddy told her a secret that if she was really good, she might still get her 'punzel.
She lit up, and then ran upstairs to tell me Thank you for buying her Max the horse.
